When people think of recovery, they think they'll just have this great epiphany one day and everything will be better. That's a great thought, and for many that is how it starts, but recovery is a process.
Whether you have been recovering for years or hours, you have started the biggest, most important journey of your entire life.
You're going to fall a lot of times, but you're also going to learn how to pick yourself up.
I've been in recovery for 4 years.
I'm telling you the process doesn't get easier. But, I'm also telling you things will get clearer, you will get braver, and you will learn to love yourself and your story.
The most important thing for you to learn through this process, is that your story is beautiful.
Never be ashamed to ask for help, to tell someone you are not okay today but that you know tomorrow will get better, to tell yourself that you need to rest. Own your story no matter what obstacles you face because it's yours. Don't forget to love yourself through this process because thats exactly what recovery is.
